What To Expect

Everyone that has ever entered a church as a visitor has had the same questions.  I wonder what it's like in there.  I wonder if they are friendly.  Will I measure up?  Will they accept me?  What if.....?   Unfortunately, most of those questions arise because we've all had bad experiences of one kind or another at church.

We are a small fellowship of believers.  We not only worship and minister together, we are also friends.  We come from many different places.  Some of us are even yankees!!  We love the Lord, we love to fellowship (especially eating), we love to worship and study the bible.  Please rest assured that we don't have any preconcieved notions about you.  You don't even have to be a believer.

Our intention for you if you walk into our door is to make you feel welcome.  Someone will likely meet you at the door and wish you a goodmorning.  They will introduce themselves and maybe a few others.  There's no pressure to meet everyone if you choose not to.  You can have a seat or you can help yourself to some fresh cake, donuts, or cookies and a hot cup of coffee if you'd like.

When church begins, you'll realize that some people are still eating.  Others are sipping their coffee while they sing.  You'll discover some folks in shorts, others in jeans and t-shirt.  Once in a while you'll see dress pants and a tie......but not very often.  You will be comfortable wearing whatever makes you comfortable.  Our worship music is contemporary.  Sometimes it is recorded music, other times it is live.  Worship is often with guitars, drums, base, keyboard and other musical instruments.  You'll hear an old hymn once in a while also.

At Calvary Chapel the sermon is more like a lesson or teaching.  We study the bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter.  It is simple teaching from the bible.  You don't have to know anything when you come in.  You don't even have to bring a bible, we'll loan you one and help you find the book we are studying.  As we study together, most find that they begin to understand the bible as never before.

We don't pass the offering plate.  We have the 'Agape' box' in the back for those that choose to worship with their tithes and offerings.  If you are visiting, we don't want your money.  No offering plate will pass in front of you and there will be no awkward moments where you feel pressed to give.  If you are blessed and become part of our fellowship you may choose to support the church at a later date.  That is between you and God.  We only want you to give if you can do it cheerfully.

That's basically it.  We are informal but take our faith seriously.  We hope you will come on in and find a warm and friendly place to worship God and learn more of His incredible love and grace.
