Bible study......no previous experience or knowledge required.
Something new!

That got your attention didn't it?  What's new is we are beginning a Wednesday night bible study.  I want you to know up front that no previous experience or knowledge required.  If you've always been intimidated by the bible, this will help you.  This is something I've wanted to do for a long time and I'm excited about it.  I'm going to start in the book of Psalms and we'll just gather around the tables with our study bibles, commentaries, dicitonaries and concordance and study the bible.  I don't want to have a fixed agenda or fixed time but I have some goals which I listed below.  I want this to be a relaxing time where we grow and learn and allow God to transform our lives by His word.

A relaxed atmosphere where there are no dumb questions.

This won't be sitting listening to the pastor speak.  This is sitting around the talbes, reading God's word, searching out the meaning.  We will cross reference, consider different translations, examine the original language once in a while.  Many people have many questions about their faith and about the bible.  There is rarely an opportunity to ask those questions and seek out solid, biblical answers.

Take time to dig in.

If we only study one verse, that's okay.  We won't be in a hurry.  We will spend whatever time we need on a passage.  We will chew it up and meditate on it.

Apply God's word to our lives.

The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword.  It's alive, it's relevant..... and God speaks to us through his word.  We will see the truth of the bible suddenly make sense in each of our personal lives.

Prayer & Fellowship

I'd like to take time to pray for our church and those we know who are in need.  This will be a time for you to bring a request or offer a prayer if you wish.  Don't be intimidated by this.  No one will pressure you to pray aloud if you don't want to.  You won't be asked to share if prefer to remain silent.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Doug.
