Just Thinking.........Again

Turning 50

The downside and the ......is there an upside?
No, no, no!!  It's not me.  I'm not turning 50.  I have a couple years left (regardless of how I look and feel).  No, my older brother turns 50 tomorrow.  I was afraid he might be feeling old and be a little down so I wanted to write a blog to cheer him up.

I'm just a young feller in my fourties so I don't know about such things.  So, the first thing I did was go to my trusty google homepage and do a search.  I entered in 'advantages of being 50'.    I executed the search and guess what............ there are no advantages!!!!  Sorry, Rick.

Hey, wait a minute.  There's still hope.  Google says there are 'benefits of being 50'.  I figured that will work - so here's the list I found.

  • Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

  • In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

  • No one expects you to run into a burning building.

  • People call at 9 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"

  • People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

  • There's nothing left to learn the hard way - Oh, I could tell some stories here!!

  • Things you buy now won't wear out.

  • You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.

  • You get into a heated argument about pension plans.

  • You have a party and the neighbors don't even realize it.

  • You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge - He's thinking about the Dodge days.

  • You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.

  • Your eyes won't get much worse.

  • Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

  • Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the National Weather Service.

  • Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

  • Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

  • I feel compelled to add one of my own - You don't have to worry about your hair style!!

I removed a couple that weren't appropriate to this site (even though they were extremely funny).  See Rick, it's not doom and gloom.  Turning 50 has it's advantages.  Happy Birthday big brother.

Thinking about you on your birthday.

Doug
