Just Thinking.........Again

Another Bible?

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
But I don't have one like this.
I've been thinking about it for a while.  I teach from the NKJ but I've been doing most of my study in a McArthur NASB study bible.  I pretty much worked my way through the McArthur bible; marked it up; took notes and read the commentary notes.  A few months ago I saw someone I respected promoting the ESV study bible.  I've been checking it out and thinking about it for a while.  Since my Birthday was last week, it seemed like a good excuse to buy a new bible.  Bev encouraged me (as she always does).

Getting a new bible is exciting to me.  I've been using it about five or six days now and I really like it.  It is a study bible, packed with commentaries, time lines and pictures.  Each chapter has an outline along with setting, date, author, theme, literary features and relevance.  One of the unique features is you get a password with your bible so you can log onto thier website.  The entire bible with all the notes, articles and features are then available to you on line.  You can then add your own electronic notes on the computer at the desired location in scripture.

If you are in the market for a new study bible, give it a look.  This is considered a literal translation.  This kind of translation is more word for word where others can be translatiing thoughts and intents.  This is a thick bible and it is strictly a desktop bible for me.  I wouldn't buy it to lug to church every week.

They have a video and a tour and you can see some samples of the bible.

I bought mine here.

Do a search on 'ESV study bible' and you can get a preview pages here

If you don't have a bible, email
