The Great Pyramid

In the bible?

Isaiah 19:19-20

19 In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD at its border. 20 And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the LORD because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.

Isaiah is speaking about Egypt here and 'that day' is the future reign of the messiah.  What is this altar to the Lord that will be a sign and witness in the land of Egypt?

I'm always fascinated by the pyramids and the mystery surrounding them.  I ran across a respected bible teacher who wondered out loud if Isaiah 19 wasn't a reference to the pyramids.  No one really knows but there are some interesting facts for the fun file.

Now remember the fun file is to explore the wonder and mystery.  It's a place of speculation, probing and questioning.  It's not a place of doctrine.  You don't go start a new denomination based on weird stuff like this and you can't linger here too long.  Read, enjoy and then get back to serious bible study.

The phrase 'an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt and a pillar to the LORD at Its border" is interesting.  How can something be in the midst and at the border at the same time?  The Great Pyramid is located in Giza.  Giza is in the midst of the land but it isn't on the border.  However Giza means border.  At that time Egypt was always split north & south, so you can see how this altar 'in the midst' at the border could be located in Giza.

There are many pyramids in Egypt; the great pyramid is believed to be oldest.  The Hinxos (shepherd kings) are believed to have entered Egypt and took the whole country over without a battle.  They instituted monotheism and built the pyramid, then they left without reason.  Why would they do that?  Egypt was meticulous about keeping records, yet they kept no record of building the Great Pyramid.  Why such a glaring oversight?

One theory is the shepherd kings were Assyrians who invaded the Egypt and took control for some time.  There are some bible passages referring to 'the Assyrian' that seem to be talking about Satan.  There is no reasonable explanation for how the pyramids were built.  Every theory has major flaws.  Were they supernaturally built?  Who knows?  Was the Great Pyramid an altar to the Lord and did the 'The Assyrian' take over the country and build counterfeits?  All the other pyramids are tomb markers to kings who claimed to be gods.  The Great Pyramid is not a tomb, it has many rooms and passages that were never intended as tombs, and there are no hieroglyphics.

The Great Pyramid is accurately aligned to north; believed to be built in 2500 B.C.; 13 acres at the base; thermal expansion built in to the corners; stones are 5'x8'x12' weighing 2 tons each and are cut to accuracy of 1/50th of an inch; It was originally covered with polished limestone.  The tolerances of the stones are greater than the tiles on the space shuttle.

Imagine the size and weight of such a structure.  To build something like this and assure it wouldn't sink, settle unevenly or crumble apart would be a major undertaking in this day and age.  Is it a coincidence it is built on solid, stable rock?

Measure of the side is 365.242 sacred cubits - same number days in a year.  Ten million sacred cubits is the radius of the earth at the North Pole.  If the height of the pyramid were the radius of the circle the base is equal to PI.  The mathematics of the pyramid is amazing.  The angles, ratios and measurements show up again and again throughout.

There is a ascending passage and a descending passage.  The airshafts, if not plugged would keep the temp at 68 degrees.  The tunnel is accurate within ΒΌ" in 350' - we can't do that with lasers.  Some time ago some folks found a relationship in distance of the passageways to the timelines of young earth creation, birth and death of Jesus.  The angle of 26 degrees, 18 min, 9.7 sec is of the ascending passage which points directly to Bethlehem.  The only piece of furniture in the pyramid is a box in the king's chamber with the exact volume as the Ark of the Covenant.  The box is carved of solid stone.

Not that long ago while they were studying the pyramids they discovered the sides had a bow to them that can't really be seen with the eye.  Once it was studied, they found the bow was exact on each side and matched the curvature of the earth exactly.

The height of the pyramid relates to the thickness of the earths crust.  The distance to the sun can be calculated from the pyramid.  The amazing facts go on and on.

The capstone of the pyramid is missing.  Some believe that it was made of gold but no one really knows.  The Great Pyramid is the last of the Seven Wonders of the World.  Is it an altar to the Lord?  I don't know?  Does the passageway point to the birthplace of the messaih while the length of the passage tell them when he would have been born?  Was the capstone missing on purpose because He was yet to come?

If you haven't had enough, research these:

Why is the Great Pyramid in the great seal of the United States?

Research the location of the pyramid on the earth?

Research the relationship to other places in the world.

You could spend a lifetime studying stuff like this.  Many have.  However, there are some weird rabbit trails that some of these things will lead you down.  Don't be deceived!!

That's enough fun for now.

Get back to the bible.
